Biomass Boiler Fuel Feeding System — Project Reference.

Manufacturing of a complete feeding assembly for shredded wood fuel.

Reliable fuel feeding is an essential part of a biomass-fired combustion system. The feeding equipment must ensure controlled and continuous transfer of shredded wood into the combustion chamber while providing safe access for operation and maintenance.

MAXIMUS FAB has experience in the manufacturing of a complete feeding assembly for a biomass combustion installation, combining mechanical equipment with supporting steel structures and operator access platforms.

Scope of manufacturing

The manufacturing scope included:

  • a double feeding pusher for feeding shredded wood into the combustion chamber,
  • a buffer hopper installed upstream of the feeding pushers,
  • a supporting steel structure for the feeding equipment,
  • access and service platforms for operation and maintenance.

The components were manufactured as part of one integrated assembly, designed to work together as a functional fuel-feeding system.

Double feeding pusher

The central component of the assembly was a double pusher system designed to transfer shredded wood from the feeding area into the combustion chamber.

For this type of equipment, manufacturing accuracy and the correct interfaces between individual components are essential for reliable operation. Particular attention is therefore required to dimensional accuracy, structural integrity and the interaction between the moving and stationary parts of the assembly.

Buffer hopper

A buffer hopper was positioned upstream of the feeding pushers.

Its purpose is to provide an intermediate storage volume between the upstream fuel-handling system and the feeding mechanism. This arrangement supports a controlled supply of biomass to the combustion chamber.

The hopper was manufactured together with the supporting elements and interfaces required for integration with the feeding equipment.

Supporting structure and access platforms

The scope also included the supporting steel structure and access platforms.

The supporting structure provides the necessary mechanical support for the feeding equipment, while the platforms allow operators and maintenance personnel to access the installation safely.

These elements were treated as an integral part of the equipment package, ensuring that the mechanical equipment and structural components form one coordinated assembly.

Manufacturing experience

This reference demonstrates MAXIMUS FAB’s experience in manufacturing equipment and steel structures for industrial biomass combustion systems.

The project combined:

  • mechanical equipment manufacturing,
  • steel structure fabrication,
  • biomass feeding equipment,
  • access and maintenance platforms,
  • dimensional control and component interfaces,
  • preparation of an integrated industrial assembly.

Projects of this type require coordination between mechanical equipment, structural steelwork and operational access systems. Manufacturing is therefore not limited to producing individual components — the complete assembly must be considered as one functional system.
